The
CAMERON-ADDISON design studio is based in Cheshire,
where we design desirable, yet commercial products.
The garments are manufactured exclusively in the
UK, and currently sold in independent outlets
across the United Kingdom.
The
designer (and brand owner) Victoria Mawhinney
begins the design process at her knitting machine
and the primary starting point for any of her
designs is the fabric itself, and experimentation
with draping and joining panels allows an organic
garment to emerge. She has been inspired
to create garments based on the techniques used
in Japanese textiles – the word ‘Kimono’
literally translated means ‘thing to wear’.
Many of the garments that Victoria creates for
the CAMERON-ADDISON brand can be worn on the body
in a variety of different ways and it is left
up to the wearer how they choose to style the
garment on themselves.
In October 2006 Victoria travelled to Babson College, Boston to take part in the NETS-UK programme (New Entrepreneurial Transatlantic Scholarship) to study with 19 hand-picked entrepreneurs. The North East based designer, was selected having taken part in the New Entrepreneur Scholarship Programme at Durham Business School.
